Senior Design Engineer


This position is expected to assist in technical services for project construction and engineering design. In addition, the position will move to Construction Manager role once the project is progressed to construction phase.


  • Large scale solar project construction and engineering design. Conduct with general engineering work, including:
    • Carry out PVsyst simulations to look at different configurations and equipment options for new and existing projects
    • Prepare preliminary electrical drawings including SLDs
    • Review electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings and designs
    • Liaise with equipment manufacturers
    • Engage and manage contractors, designers, consultants and third parties
  • Assist with general technical and engineering work, including regulatory, planning, grid connection, technical design, tender specifications and review, design reviews and other aspect of renewable energy project developments
  • Evaluation on field variations and value engineering effort to optimize best practices usage for projects
  • Provide inputs to technical specifications to ensure that grid connection and electrical items are covered and that there are no gaps
  • To ensure the satisfaction of the design, calculation report and local code compliance
  • Design risk assessment, construction plan and acceleration plan
  • Report and reflect design work with good language and computer skills
  • Assist with assessment of development assets in targeted market areas
  • Support projects, tender and technical queries
  • Overall organizational responsibility for the construction projects within quality, time and cost parameters.
  • Lead team for construction management of the company projects including establishment of team, construction supervision, quality control of construction works, contract management, liaison wi Establishment and implementation of in-house systems for procurement, project management and monitoring and quality control.
  • Oversight of contractor procurement, including preparation of PQ, RFP and Tender documents, evaluation of tenders, providing tender recommendations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of contractors on site with respect to safety, quality of work, and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and design documents.
  • Prepare various technical reports required for the works with good language and computer skills, including ANAplan, Insurance claims, recordable HSSE incidents, letters of notification to subs, supplier, government officials, relate to project on site activities and design work.
  • As a member of construction management team as he or she will be assigned to project by project for Vena Taiwan VSLL construction programs.
  • Assist PMO/Project Managers with weekly reporting including ANAPLAN, and reportable manhours, and HSSE KPI’s to ensure project and company goals are achieved.
  • Assist in the selection of suitable subcontractors and suppliers for projects, with participation in tender evaluation of pre-approvals of subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assist project management with details level 3 scheduling of works, and provide actual to budget analysis
  • Supervise and lead daily and weekly on-site construction meeting, including HSSE related/actions meetings, in working with other VE CM’s and PCM 3rd party firms.
  • Defect Registers, and project punch-list and close out EPCM work to provide handover to VEOM of works.


  • BS in Electrical, Technical and/or Engineering disciplines
  • Construction project and management courses are preferable


  • Work with solar industrial corporations and involved with technical and engineering functions
  • Successful experiences with large-scale solar projects, value engineering, multiple subcontractors and optimal construction budgets are plus
